Train car introduction

3300 series

3300 series

The 3300 series was built following the detailed discussions on the design of the railcars that would link up to the Osaka Metro Sakaisuji Line in order to operate the mutual through service with the line.

Between 1967 and 1969, the 120 cars required for the through service were constructed, and the mutual through service began on December 6, 1969.
With the start of the mutual through service, it was decided that the ratio of electric cars in each train should be at least two-thirds, and the number of main motors in each train increased. So, the output has been kept low.
Since 1981, the rollsign device, air conditioning equipment, and cross-flow fans have been installed.
In the past, all 3300 series trains were six-car trains, so they were also operated as special express trains between Umeda and Arashiyama during the tourist seasons.

Special notes

Rollsign device

A manual rollsign device was installed above the front window on the conductor's side. Until an electric rollsign device was later installed, when the train was operated on the Osaka Metro Sakaisuji Line, the manual rollsign was changed to white when the train was operated on the Hankyu Line, and an operation signboard was used.
