Train car introduction

5000 series

5000 series

The 5000 series is the first 1500 V train on the Kobe Line and Takarazuka Line, which was introduced after the overhead line voltage was increased on the Kobe Line (from 600 V to 1500 V). A large-scale remodeling work has been carried out since 2000.

As for the design of the car body, skirts have been attached for the first time in the 5000 series, and new handholds and footsteps have been installed below the end windows of the driver's cab and conductor's cab. The glass of the front gangway door has also been expanded downward, and the taillights and marker lights have been made square. Unlike the previous renovation work, the design of the front body has also been changed significantly with the roof shoulders painted ivory, giving it a different impression from the conventional 5000 series.
The interior of the railcar is also designed with barrier-free access in mind, having information displays, wheelchair spaces, automatic window regulators, free-stop curtains, and lowered straps.

Special notes

Central driver’s cab

The refurbished 5000 series railcar had a central driver's cab in the middle. However, during the remodeling work, all of the driver's cabs were removed except for a few, making the structure of the central cars of the series the same as the central cars of other series.
