Train car introduction
6300 series
The 6300 series was built in 1975 as a successor to the 2800 series railcars, which had been operated exclusively as limited express trains on the Kyoto Line. In 1976, it received the Blue Ribbon Prize from the Japan Railfan Club.
The car body has been significantly remodeled from the 2800 series, and a display curtain has been installed on the front, so the indicator lights and taillights have been placed under the gable window, stainless steel decorative bands have been attached, and the style has been changed to include headlights on the hood.
Since July 2008, we have been working on the conversion of three 6300 series trains to four-car trains for Arashiyama Line.
Six rows of cross seats are arranged in the center of the side entrance, and a one-seater cloth seat is placed on the left side facing the Arashiyama, a two-seater cross seat is placed on the right side, and long seats are arranged at both ends of the cross seat, and the seating capacity is clarified by providing partitions for three and two people.
Special notes
Operation on the Arashiyama Line
The refurbished 6300 series railcars retain its tradition as limited express trains exclusively operated on the Kyoto Line, but they still look as good as other railcars, with the same new equipment as new railcars and the interior designed with the environment along the Arashiyama Line in mind.
The railcars are designed to provide a comfortable environment for both passengers visiting Arashiyama for sightseeing and those using the line for commuting.
