Train car introduction

6000 series

6000 series

The 6000 series was introduced as a railcar equipped with the 5100 series electrical equipment and the body of the 2200 series railcar (please see the special notes).

Two of the eight cars of the train built in 1976 were Hankyu's first aluminum cars. The following year, six more aluminum cars were built, making all the eight cars of the 6000 series railcar aluminum cars.
Generally, aluminum cars have unpainted bodies to take advantage of the luster that is characteristic of aluminum alloy. However, Hankyu's aluminum cars are not only painted maroon but also have a traditional wood-grain interior design, making their interior and exterior indistinguishable from steel cars.

Special notes

Railcar that can be operated by one person

Hankyu's first one-person operation began on the Koyo Line and Imazu-Minami Line in 1997. The 6000 series was remodeled so that it could be operated by one person, and five three-car railcars (Mc-T-M'c) were created. These 6000 series one-person-operated railcars were the first railcars equipped with anti-fall devices between the coupling surfaces of the cars, which are now installed on all cars.

The 2200 series railcar

The 2200 series was an experimental vehicle that adopted a control device using new technologies and a different appearance and driver's cab from previous railcars, and only one railcar was built. Electric rollsign devices were installed above the front and side windows, the marker lights and taillights were moved to the bottom, and a skirt was attached to the bottom of the front. The side windows were enlarged upward and downward by 50 mm each and the height of the side entrances was also increased by 50 mm, while the driver's cabin was expanded toward the passenger cabin, eliminating the side window between the driver's cabin and the side entrance immediately behind it. The symbol mark (H mark) was attached in this position, creating a new style of Hankyu.

When the railcar was first constructed, an armature chopper device was installed, and the long-term practical test was conducted on the Kobe Line. Two new cars were then constructed to verify the long-term performance of the VVVF control device and AC main motors.

The appearance and driver's cab of the 2200 series railcar were carried over to the 6000 and later series railcars. On the other hand, since the testing of the armature chopper devices and VVVF control devices was completed, the devices were removed, and the 2200 series railcars had their vehicle numbers changed and are now operated as part of the 6000 series and 7000 series.
