Information on personal belongings

Personal belongings that passengers can bring with them for free

  • Passengers may bring up to two items on board the train free of charge, provided that each item is no longer than 2 meters, that the maximum sum of its three sides is no longer than 2.5 meters, and that it weighs no more than 30 kilograms, and only if there is deemed to be no risk of transportation disruptions due to the operational status of trains.
    Large luggage has size and weight restrictions.

  • Passengers may bring bicycles and surfboards on the train free of charge only if one of the following conditions applies (even if they comply with the restrictions set forth in the previous paragraph).

    • Bicycles must be disassembled and stored in special bicycle bags. Folding bicycles must be folded and stored in special bicycle bags.

      Once folded or disassembled, bicycles must be stored in their entirety in bags whose material and/or shape meke them unlikely to tear or break.
      Bicycles can be brought on board if they are fully packed in a designated bag.

      Bicycles cannot be foldable and stored in a bag for riding.

      *Electric scooters, like bicycles, must be disassembled or folded and stored in special bags.

    • Surfboards must be stored in special bags.
  • Passengers may bring dogs that meet any of the conditions indicated below free of charge (but only if there is deemed to be no risk of transportation disruptions due to the conditions of trains or other conditions).

    • Assistance dogs (seeing-eye dogs, service dogs and hearing dogs) that have been certified as such pursuant to Article 16, Paragraph 1 of the Act on Assistance Dogs for Persons with Disabilities (Act No. 49 of 2002). Even so, the dog must display the markings specified in Article 12 of the same Act and the passenger must possess an assistance dog user certificate.
    • Guide dogs as prescribed by Cabinet Order specified in Article 14, Paragraph 1, of the Road Traffic Act (Law No. 105 of 1960). However, this is only permitted if the guide dog wears a harness, and the customer has a guide dog user certificate. (Note) Passengers may bring onto the train personal items such as umbrellas, walking sticks, handbags, shoulder bags, etc., regardless of the number of items.

Paid baggage and regular baggage fare

The following items may be brought on board by paying the regular baggage fare.
The regular baggage fare is 290 yen per item per ride.

  • Small dogs, cats, pigeons, or similar small animals (excluding wild animals and snakes) that are kept in special containers and are not likely to harm or cause a nuisance to other passengers.
    In addition to the above, any special approval given by our company.
